The breakfast was the one disappointment for us. There was fruit salad, scrambled eggs, vegetables, fresh bread and more, but the eggs had too much butter for our taste. Otherwise, the service was fabulous and the staff really nice. The hotel sits on the hill by Wernigerode Castle, with its own path up from the terrace that takes about 10 minutes. Town, woods, and castle are all easy to reach on foot, and parking beside the hotel was just 5€ per night.

The welcome package with a bus pass and coupons was a lovely touch, and the breakfast was amazing, with a huge range of choices for juice and coffee too. My room was spotless and the bed very comfortable. Schlossberg-Hotel was a highlight of my Wernigerode trip. It’s about a 20-minute uphill walk from the station, so keep that in mind if you have lots of luggage. The service was very pleasant.

The breakfast view over Werningrode was such a lovely way to start the day. There was a good mix of local food, much of it homemade, and the quality was great. The dining area’s decor made it feel like stepping back in time. After two nights here exploring the Harz region, I found the whole hotel experience and atmosphere flawless. In winter, the snow makes the outside look like a magical palace. My room was simple but cozy, warm, and had everything we needed. The host was friendly and explained how to get around. We also received two transportation tickets for use throughout the Harz region, and there are private paid parking spots for guests with cars. Maybe I’ll come back in summer.

Breakfast had loads of choices and was excellent. The rooms were clean, though the shower could use an antislip mat. It’s a lovely, welcoming place, with the castle and town center each about a 10-minute walk away. All in all, we had a great stay.

The view from here is spectacular, and the staff were very accommodating. The Altstadt is only a five-minute walk away.
