Mondial

We had booked a table for our group at Restaurant Mondial Wiesloch. The welcome was very friendly, but service quickly went wrong. The intern serving us didn't understand well enough to bring the amuse-bouche we'd ordered, and when we asked the waitress for schnitzel, pasta with a regular sauce, vinegar and oil, or yogurt sauce, she couldn't find them and said they could only serve what was on the menu. There are three daily specials, but otherwise the menu is limited. Our main courses arrived cold, lukewarm, or warm outside and cold inside. The plates were cold and the rice was hard too. For dessert, neither ice cream with hot raspberries nor mixed ice cream was available. Red wine choices were very limited, and I had to ask whether they even had a decanter for the wine I'd ordered. The wine served was far too warm. I wanted to talk it over with the chef, but was told he had no time; my written complaint got no reply. This is nowhere near what I'd expect from a four-star hotel.

REWE, Wiesloch town center and the train station are all within walking distance, and they offer a free shuttle as well. Nice hotel.

Very good value for money, with excellent service that was both friendly and competent. It's an excellent hotel.
