Haus Alexandra

The free activity card was a real bonus. It covered things like the gondola, ice skating, and the indoor playground, and saved us quite a bit. From the gondola, there's a nice sledding walk, a big playground, and a treasure hunt too. We hadn't visited Willingen before, but found it great with kids, including the slopes. We stayed for a week with our children, aged 2 and 4. The two-bedroom apartment was roomy and well equipped, and we enjoyed having a garden with a playhouse. The town center, with its restaurants, bakeries, and shops, was a 10-minute walk away, while the slopes took about 20 minutes on foot. By car, everything was just a few minutes away. Fresh rolls could also be delivered to the door each morning. We had a fantastic holiday.

We were very satisfied and would gladly return. The apartment was clean, nicely furnished, and good value for the price. The owners were friendly and gave us tips, including which ski lifts were open. A small oven in the room would have been useful, though.

I tried to book directly by email, but never got a confirmation. When I called two days later, I was told the rooms were already booked and that the rules had changed, with a five-day minimum now. I had wanted to book three days directly to save the 30% discount offered through Booking.com. I can't recommend booking privately. It seems to work only through Booking.com, since the woman can't manage direct bookings.

The landlady was lovely and very accommodating, making sure everyone was happy. Breakfast was the standout, beautifully presented and so satisfying that leaving hungry would be your own fault. We were four people on a short break. The rooms were tastefully decorated and just the right size for two. We'll definitely be back.
