Hotel Willmeroth

The welcome was warm, and the staff were friendly and attentive throughout. The sides were fresh and tasty, and the meat was juicy, well grilled, and never dry. It tasted just like Greece and brought back that holiday feeling. A Greek restaurant I’d happily recommend, and we’ll definitely be back.

We found plenty to see in the lovely surrounding area, and it’s best explored by bike. Koblenz is well worth a visit. The Maueler Hofbräu was out of stock because of a malfunction, which was a real shame. Our dinner came from a limited menu and was tasty. We would have happily paid extra for the full menu, but nobody offered it. The evening staff, Greek men and young women, could have been much friendlier and more communicative. Not once did anyone ask if they could take away our empty plates. The room was fairly modern after renovation, though the bathroom could do with an update. In the hallway, only one of the three spotlights worked, which was really poor. Room cleaning was skipped altogether. During our week, the trash was emptied just twice, and we got no fresh towels. Breakfast was in a separate room, with cold cuts, cheese, vegetables, yogurt, jam, Nutella, fresh fruit, muesli, fresh rolls, milk, tea, and coffee. That was enough for us, but the hours could be better. On weekdays it ran from 7:00 to 9:00 and weekends from 8:00 to 10:00. We like to sleep in on vacation. When we rang to announce our arrival, a Greek gentleman came over. We said we wanted to check in, and he asked our names and said he still needed the room payment. There was no hello or welcome. The key was left on the counter, back here on the first floor.

We’d let them know in advance that a group was coming to use the bowling alley for my birthday. But when we arrived, someone from the hotel stopped us and wouldn’t let us in, without explaining why. Really disappointing. Don’t bother going there!

The train station is only a 12-minute walk away, and you can get everywhere from there. Everyone has been friendly, the rooms are clean, and the food and home-brewed beer are delicious. It’s our first day here and we already feel very comfortable. Everything’s just right.
