Schelterhof

Really good.

The kids could play safely in the yard, even though tractors and other farm vehicles passed through Schönlind often. The village itself is quiet and small, with little traffic and a small fire pond. It also made a great starting point for exploring the region. We were there as three families, with grandparents and four children aged 1 to 11, and everyone found something to enjoy. The apartments felt roomy and cozy, and had what we needed, including a crib and highchair ready when we arrived. The host family were warm and easy to reach. The outdoor area was kept up nicely, and the sand and mud play spot was a favorite.

The children were especially taken with the animals, and could spend time with them freely and without limits. They also loved the ride-on toys in the yard. The other guests made for a relaxed, friendly atmosphere, and it felt like a nice place for new friendships to start. Our apartment was clean and had everything we needed. The host family were friendly, helpful, and always available. Fly screens would be a useful addition, particularly on the skylights.

The drinks setup was especially handy: help yourself and note what you take on the list. There were lots of things for kids to play with in the courtyard, including race cars and other toys, so it works really well for families. We had a great time in the vacation apartment and would happily book it again. I'd recommend it.
