Vienna House Easy by Wyndham Wuppertal

The room was unbearably hot the whole time because the air conditioner didn't work properly. The carpet was dirty and had a strong, unpleasant smell that wouldn't go away. Breakfast was exactly the same every day, with no variety or effort to change things up. I expected a four-star stay, but it felt more like two stars. The comfort and quality didn't match the rating, and I wouldn't recommend staying here unless they make serious improvements.

The room was fine, but the stay didn't meet my expectations. I booked this hotel over other options because its advertised gym, swimming pool, and restaurant mattered to me. I was there over Whit Monday, and all three were closed. No one told me beforehand, so I couldn't use any of the services that had justified choosing and paying for this hotel. That's really disappointing. I should have been informed in advance so I could make an informed choice, and I expect some compensation for the money effectively wasted.

The people here are nice, and breakfast is pretty good for a really reasonable price.

Friendly reception staff, and the lifts work. The landings are separated from the accommodation by stairs, so lift noise doesn't affect the rooms. The hotel is just outside the city centre and hauptbahnhof, beside the local theatre. Rooms are clean, though the facilities are basic. On a cold night, wind whistles under the entrance door unless the toilet door is shut tightly. The restaurant was closed in the evening because of staff shortages. The swimming pool, advertised as available, seemed to be in a separate, disconnected building. It was closed both in the morning and from the afternoon, so it was no use to guests out for business or sightseeing during the day. At reception, four staff were there, but they focused on paperwork before checking in guests. I and others waited 15 minutes before anyone helped us.
