The staff were really friendly, and the place has a quirky, unusual feel. We had good beds and spotlessly clean rooms, with fresh breakfast, a bar, swimming pool and sauna. There’s a circular walk starting at the hotel, and the views are to die for. Great for walkers and hikers. Wonderful, wonderful. The rooms and showers were good, and we enjoyed the evening meals too.

An interesting place to stay.

The rooms are very dated, with plenty of maintenance overdue. The pool is open from 7 am to 10 pm, but doesn’t get cleaned often, apparently because there are too few staff. There’s also a sauna. The hotel and restaurant are in the Eifel, about 18 km from Gerolstein. The building hasn’t stood the test of time, and the owner is old and barely able to run the business. The small team, including the cook, the one housekeeper, and the receptionist who also handles service and cleaning, do their best. The chef makes the restaurant good, and the Polish hostess makes the breakfast buffet, which costs 12 euros, reasonable.
