For a quiet break, Lohm Castle is a lovely fit. It sits among fields and meadows on the edge of a small village. There are three double rooms and a suite, with breakfast available if arranged. Just keep in mind there are no shops or restaurants in the village.

Everything else was lovely, especially the cats, but we had trouble getting in when we arrived around 4 pm. We had booked a room and nobody answered the door, and at first our calls went unanswered too. Visitors should arrange an arrival time with the hotel owners.

The price is good, and the castle is beautiful in a peaceful setting. It could probably use some renovation, though, and cleanliness could be better.

There’s a kitchen room where you can make something to eat, though the house cat sits on the table and watches you. In good weather, breakfast is served outside, with rolls, jam, eggs, two kinds of sausage and cheese, coffee, and orange juice. There’s also shelter for cyclists. The place suits people who mainly want peace and quiet. You can’t eat there, and staff said the nearest restaurant is about 15 kilometers away. My room had no shower or toilet, so I shared those with three other guests. There was no towel in my room, though my companion had one on the bed, so mine must have been left behind. The TV didn’t work either.

The shared bathroom and toilet for three rooms may bother sensitive people, but it wasn't a problem for me. I loved the castle-like furnishings, the personal service, and breakfast on the terrace in the park. The atmosphere is wonderful, and it's a real recommendation for nature lovers looking for peace and quiet. Worth 5 stars.
