Globalhagen hostel

They put on evening activities, and we joined the karaoke and got to meet people. The staff were really welcoming and helped me a lot with the city. Great hostel, nothing else to say.

I had a good time, made friends, and could get work done when I needed to. A huge street party festival happening on one of my days there made the location feel especially great. The cafe downstairs is comfortable, open to the public, and has nice couches and drinks for sale. There was also a free amateur comedy night one evening, which was a fun surprise. The kitchen could use more supplies, like mugs and paper towels, but I could still cook. The beds are creaky and have no curtains, though that was okay with considerate roommates. You have to make and strip your own bed, and towel hire at €3.50 feels outrageous. The common room looks lovely but wasn't especially social, and both it and the kitchen close at 11pm. The bathrooms were just okay. The automatic taps were frustrating and often didn't work, and the showers only gave a weak trickle of lukewarm water. There is locker storage. Most staff were sweet but not very helpful, except for the Spanish girl. I felt a bit bad saying it, but check-in was slow, painful, and inflexible, and other questions were handled much the same way.

The busy cafe-bar at the entrance gives the hostel a lively social feel, but when I visited it was packed, and I missed having somewhere quieter to rest. The kitchen is on the top floor, which smelled sour and unpleasant during my stay, so I mostly avoided using it. Apart from that, things were solid. The price was decent, check-in was reasonably easy, and the dorm room was comfortable enough. They provide clean sheets for you to put on your bed. It's a very standard hostel that doesn't particularly stand out. I'd stay again, possibly for a long time.

I had a private room that was a good size and quiet, and the shared facilities were always available. The shower was warm too. There are plenty of restaurants, cafes, and shops nearby, and the hostel is in a great part of Copenhagen. Staff and volunteers were friendly, and the cafe-bar downstairs had nice prices. The hostel also supports a great cause :)
