We were about a 20-minute walk from the main station, with a fotox supermarket nearby, and Thomas was really friendly and helped us get settled. The shared bathroom was clean, and they provided disinfectant for cleaning up after ourselves, plus shampoo, conditioner, soap, and small shower towels. We stayed on the second floor, sharing it with two other rooms in this three-story, five-room place. The property feels old. One plank near our door sank when stepped on, and some of the wood looked damaged. The beds were reaaaally soft. What made the stay hard was the noise outside our windows every night. Cars went by and people talked loudly in the middle of the night. At 2am on the second night I filmed what was happening: a guy shouting from his car and a man in a hoodie running out. That was only one of many times. We were very sleep deprived, so light sleepers should probably avoid it. If you sleep deeply, the price might make it worth considering. We had one night left when the host called one morning to say he had accidentally double booked and needed us to move rooms. Since we'd run out of things to do in Odense, we offered to check out that day so he could have the room. He said he'd refund us for the trouble, but a week later he still hadn't.

The kitchenette worked perfectly for our little breakfast, and sharing the bathroom with the other guests was totally easygoing. Check-in and check-out were straightforward, too. The rooms are really spacious and have everything you need, all in a cute, cozy hotel near the city center. Thomas, the host, was super cool and helpful. We even went out for drinks with him one evening and learned a little about Danish culture and beers from around the world. Definitely recommended! :)

I only stayed one night at Gertruds, which is a shame because Odense seems to have a lot to discover. I was riding my motorbike from Bremen toward Copenhagen, and with the weather being poor I needed somewhere dry instead of my usual tent. It was a random choice, but Thomas, the owner, gave me a really warm welcome. The room was clean and quiet, and the location is very central.

Everything we wanted was an easy walk away, and our bed was incredibly comfortable. We were on the first floor in room 4, where the bathroom was modern and clean. Such a charming hotel. I'd definitely come back, and thank you so much for the lovely stay!

The place was clean and newly renovated, and I had really nice contact with the landlord. Still, don't expect a hotel experience just because of the name. It's much more like an Airbnb, with a room, shared bathroom and toilet, and a small kitchenette. You can clearly hear other guests walking on the old hallway boards. There's no kettle in the room, and no headboard/powder, so you can't lie back and read in bed. There are quite a few shortcomings.
