RIG Colonial Experience

I never even stayed here. I paid for a reservation and a security deposit, then tried to cancel and get my money back. They kept it, saying that was the hotel’s policy. They don’t answer calls or messages, so be careful.

I booked 7 nights in advance, but after the first night I decided I couldn’t stay for the week. The WiFi barely worked, and I went to reception about 5 times trying to get help. Michael did try to assist. I also ran the shower for 25 minutes, and hot water only came for 2 minutes before turning cold again. I was exhausted and went to bed anyway. The next day I asked to check out. Joseph spoke with his manager, got approval for me to leave, and said I’d be refunded for the 6 nights left, within a few days. When I followed up after a few days, the hotel stopped responding to my messages. Awful service. I moved to another hotel that cost a bit more, but at least I could sleep, shower, and get decent internet. You can look at the screenshots of my conversations to see who you’d be dealing with.

I had a really good 2 night stay. The room and the hotel looked immaculate, and Nanci, the cook, made a delicious breakfast that was worth getting up for. Everyone was super friendly and helped me find what I needed in the Zona Colonial. I’ll definitely stay here again.

The Zona Colonial is a great base for visiting Santo Domingo, and most things, including food shops, are within walking distance. The staff here were so kind and helpful, which made for a truly amazing hotel experience. I’ll definitely be back.
