The airport shuttle runs regularly for free, which made getting between the hotel and airport really easy. I also found the breakfast buffet excellent, with plenty of international choices and tasty Algerian dishes. My room at the Mercure Alger Aéroport was spotless, the bathroom was very clean, and the AC worked perfectly. Complimentary water and the facilities I needed were there too. The welcome started as soon as I arrived: staff helped with my luggage and were professional, attentive, and friendly throughout the stay. Everyone I met was respectful and keen to help. Since Algeria is my home country, I’ll choose this hotel again when I’m in Algiers. I think it’s one of the best hotels in the city, and I recommend it.

We often felt as if the staff were doing us a favor, and the service was disappointing. There’s also a general feeling of neglect around the hotel, with little attention to upkeep. The bathroom sink was clogged, and some gym equipment couldn’t be used. One treadmill even had its motor exposed outside the machine. The place feels very outdated and in need of renovation. People smoke everywhere, as in the photo, so the atmosphere was unpleasant and uncomfortable. I wouldn’t stay here again.

Anis at reception made check-in really easy and smooth, and I’d like to thank him. Achraf was excellent and so welcoming too. He took care of all our concerns and made an already amazing hotel stay even better.

What made us want to return was the people. Our reservation had a few hiccups when we arrived, but Mr. Lamine Kettab handled everything with such grace and warmth that the worry quickly passed. He remembers faces, checks that things are all right, and makes ordinary moments feel memorable. He really sees people, not just guests to serve. Breakfast was another highlight. Mrs. Sabiha made the best omelette I’ve ever had, and my husband is still talking about it. Each morning she made it just right, soft and golden with melting cheese and fresh vegetables, or delicious plain. Our first breakfast stays with me not only for the food, but because whenever we struggled with the coffee machine, she’d appear smiling and calm, even in the morning rush with so many requests. I’m Algerian and was traveling with my foreign husband. Seeing that professionalism, kindness, and heart made me proud of the spirit of Algerian hospitality. We came for a short stay, but stayed for the people, and we’ll definitely return. A heartfelt salute to Mrs. Sabiha, the “Omelette Queen,” and Mr. Lamine Kettab, the “King of Service and Patience.” If you’re at the Mercure Hotel, ask for them. They can make your stay unforgettable.

Getting around the hotel took patience: in the morning, the elevator wait could be 5-10 minutes. The breakfast restaurant felt small for a hotel this big, with limited variety. I gave up on coffee because usually only one machine was working for around 50 people. The nice lady serving breakfast was an exception to the staff, who hardly smiled. My room smelled like an old gymnasium. The toilet was broken, the bathroom ceiling damaged, the electricity wasn’t working, and the furniture was outdated. One of the worst hotels I’ve stayed in, and I travel a lot. Are the good reviews paid for?
