After arriving late from the airport, we just wanted a shower and a good night's sleep. Instead, there was a huge puddle on the bathroom floor, rubbish still in the bin, and no bath towels. It was past 2am, so I didn’t feel like calling the staff. The next day, dinner, which the hotel had promised us, was badly delayed. The owner said it should be ready around 10pm when we asked, but it didn’t arrive until 11pm. On the second day, the bathroom started smelling strongly of raw sewage, like human waste, urine, and rubbish. Every time the bathroom door opened, it stunk up the whole room. We were charged 12000dzd per night for a double room, more than we paid at a 4-star hotel in Oran. I wondered if there’d been a mistake because the price sheet displayed at the hotel listed less than the quote we got. The owner was fairly responsive on WhatsApp, but downright rude when we tried to ask about the price. Maybe the hotel will say it was Eid while I was there, but that doesn’t make this poor service and lack of cleanliness acceptable. This was by far the worst hotel I had the misfortune to stay at in Algeria. It’s a disgrace to Algeria, though you shouldn’t let that shape your view of the country. There are much kinder people and better places to stay throughout the rest of Algeria.

I came with friends for a few days in mid-September. The owner was reliable: we transferred money to France beforehand, then paid the balance during our stay. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the home-cooked traditional dinners were delicious. There were issues with the basics, though. Water sometimes stopped running from the bathroom taps, especially at night. The old AC leaked, and after two nights of using it, people got sick. Other rooms were very hot, so some of us moved our mattresses up to the rooftops. The guide arrived late and didn’t seem experienced at explaining plans to a group. We also felt ripped off by the extra 48.000 DIN for quads, since we hadn’t been clearly told they weren’t included or given the prices beforehand. Not a great cost-benefit ratio.

Sami, the manager, made us feel welcome and was friendly and trustworthy, going out of his way to help. He also organized a desert trip in a vintage van, a classic VW bus, which was a unique and authentic experience. The dunes are breathtaking, and the place captures the feel of the desert. Amazing stay and perfect value for money. Highly recommend!

The site visits were well planned, with new surprises each time, and the homemade food was great with something different every day. We got a warm welcome at the end of December and were very comfortable in the rooms, which have a distinctive style beside an old Ksar. Thanks for making the stay so good. Agham is definitely the place to be.

I felt at home here, and my children and I could use the terrace, tent, and Ksar whenever we wanted. Kader, the driver, is super friendly, and going out with him and Abdessamad felt like a family outing, full of sharing and good company. Sami greeted us warmly at the guesthouse and was so kind and generous. He even drove us to the airport late at night, which left a lasting impression. Thanks to the whole Agham team. The guesthouse is right in nature and well located. The owners clearly care about their guests, checking in several times a day and making sure we had what we needed. You can feel how close the family is and how much they put into running the place. The staff helped us feel at ease quickly. Meals were healthy and delicious, especially the sumptuous hot Kessra they made fresh for breakfast. I’d highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys simple, authentic stays.
