Hotel Ambato

Our suite was spacious, with its own living room, and had an amazing city view. Room service was great, though the food was pretty salty. The breakfast buffet downstairs, served from 7-10am, had plenty to choose from and was good. The room could have been cleaner in the corners, and some molding was falling, but housekeeping was very nice and clearly tried hard. The jacuzzi didn’t work, and the water was warm rather than hot. The location is a major plus: it’s in the middle of everything and in a safe part of town. The one service issue was the night front desk guy, who said he’d charge me a “fee” if my friends stayed to hang out for more than an hour. Even with that random fee, I’d still come back.

For 40 USD a day, it was quite okay. The rooms were clean but sparsely furnished, the WiFi was good, breakfast was nice, and the shower was probably the best hotel shower I had in Ecuador. The problem was that the rooms aren’t soundproof. I was unlucky enough to have a function downstairs that went on until 3am, so I got no sleep.

The food was pretty good, but I’d never stay here again. The WiFi was awful. I couldn’t even open my inbox to check email. The rooms are bare and simple, and the bathrooms are very small.

Parking comes with the stay and is right beside the building. The service was good, and breakfast was satisfying. A decent hotel.
