The cabanas are clean and nice, and the view is perfect with the ocean so close. Gladys is so kind and looks after us, and the other people are nice too. It feels like coming home, so we’ll surely be back. We’re really glad we picked this beautiful place.

The oceanfront rooms are a real plus, built as close to the beach as safely possible. Another plus is that the resort is older, so the prices are lower. We’ve stayed here for multiple days on several trips over the years, and it’s our favorite beach resort. For this visit in December 2021, COVID hysteria had cut occupancy a lot, which suited us just fine. A big part of the appeal is how quiet and peaceful it is, day and night. If you’re after noise and a lively scene all the time, there are plenty of places farther north where things jump 24/7. Food service isn’t available right now because there aren’t many guests, but several restaurants are just a short walk along the beach or a short drive away. Isla del Sol fills its niche the best.

Mrs. Gladys is a very friendly owner and always helpful, and the place is neat and clean, with a flower-filled garden. It has both a children’s pool and an adult pool. The cabañas, rooms, and apartments sit on a quiet, lovely beach with palm trees and hammocks. Prices per person are good, too. It’s the second-to-last place at that end of the beach, so I had the area to myself most of the time. Beach restaurants are a short walk away, and lots of buses go along the road, making it easy to get there from Esmeraldas.

You get a cabin right in front of the sea, and the staff make you feel at home. It’s paradise! Eric, the manager, is the best host ever.
