La Villa del Peñón Hotel & Spa

The hotel was clean and nice, and the food was good, but Edgar is what made our stay excellent. He was incredibly kind and helped my partner and me get taxis, plan excursions, and order takeout when our Spanish wasn't good enough. One rainy night, after we'd been stranded on the street for half an hour, we called hoping he'd arrange a taxi. Instead, around 10 p.m., he got in his car and came to pick us up. That man might be a saint.

The manager Edgar and the rest of the staff were super helpful. Breakfast was nice but basic, and the hotel felt safe at night, with gated parking, a 24/7-staffed lobby, and the police academy across the street. The bathroom, sheets, and towels were spotless, and the bed was comfortable. It's a clean, pleasant mid-range hotel. With a car, the location is fine, but it's a bit too far to walk to central Baños. It's quieter than staying in town, except when the police academy runs drills. The wifi also didn't work well.

My family and I were impressed by how much was included for so little money. They have a nice pool and sauna, and gave us a free typical snack when we arrived. The staff were kind, the place was clean, and they helped with whatever we needed. We'll definitely come back.

The General Manager was excellent and caring toward guests. He gave us great food recommendations and knew plenty of taxi drivers, so getting around was easy. The breakfast was top notch, too. It's a cute little gem in Baños, conveniently located near town among the hills. It's not a typical spa, but it's incredibly accommodating. I'd stay here again anytime.
