Hotel Cruz del Vado by Art Hotels Ecuador

I've stayed for three days, and this was the best hostel stay I've had. It was also my first time staying in a hostel. My room had more than enough space, and the hosts were super nice, sweet, gracious, and accommodating. They gave me recommendations for restaurants, clubs, and other places around the area. Everything was very clean, from the rooms to the bathrooms and showers, and the decor was beautiful. The walls are thin, but it honestly didn't bother me. I'll definitely stay here again next time I'm in Cuenca. 10/10, and thanks for hosting me!

The worst part came when they messaged us saying we had to leave because the partners couldn't agree on the room price. They said, "sorry you have to leave because my partner doesn't agree with the price I offered you." In reality, a large group of potential guests had arrived and they needed one more room, so we were told to go that day. We had booked through Wednesday but had to leave the previous Friday. We'd booked the suite directly for two weeks. During that time it was cleaned just once, we had to buy our own toilet paper, and there was no hot water on most days. When we mentioned that the toilet bin was full, they told us to carry it outside ourselves. We've traveled around the world for two years, and this was the first place we'd encountered with that kind of attitude. Incredible.

A peaceful, spacious hostel with all the amenities and then some. It’s run by two terrific gentlemen.

The owners seem to have thought of everything, from the well-equipped kitchen to the fresh flowers and murals around the hostel. The guys running the place are lovely, too. My room was huge and very clean, with a great hot shower. It was also quiet, and an easy walk to the historic centre. I had a lovely stay.
