The mornings were a problem for me. The outside doors are left open, so it gets cold, and the streetlights are so bright that I woke up thinking it was daytime. When the sun comes up, sleeping is pretty much impossible without an eye mask. And when I tried to leave early, I found myself locked inside until reception opened at 7 am. I missed the bus I wanted to take. I know the rules say that, but I’ve never been locked inside a hostel before. There are only two bathrooms for a lot of guests, and just the back shower gets mostly warm. Cold showers aren’t comfortable, so I don’t understand how a place can’t provide hot water. The layout is fantastic, though, with plenty of places to hang out, a spacious dorm, a huge kitchen, free towels, and a small breakfast. The nights were very quiet. Guido helped me with blankets and a warm shower, and he’s the only staff member who speaks some English. Great dude!

It’s a renovated house, and the room and common areas are nice enough for a hostel. The odd part is checking out: you can’t leave until a staff member checks your room, for some reason. Before 7 am, the outside door is also locked from the inside, even though there’s a buzzer system. Very strange.

I spent three nights there last month. The garden facing dorm was much quieter, while the one by reception and the entrance was noisy. People cooked and laughed into the evening, and it could stay loud from 7 am until 11 pm or even midnight. If you need more than seven hours of quiet sleep, I’d avoid that dorm. The place is actually a house with a garden in a wealthy, posh part of Cuenca. The furniture, kitchen equipment, and garden are all high standard, and there are lots of volunteers who regularly play instruments and sing together. For me, the comfort was outstanding.

A really good stay. The place was clean, service was nice, and the volunteers were very helpful.
