Hotel Posada Del Rey

Some of the ladies were very nice, though the service overall wasn’t the best. The rooms are really noisy, and you’re basically sleeping next to the hotel lobby. Guests and staff don’t seem to keep that in mind late at night. It’s a nice little hotel in Cuenca’s historical centre.

That California king and double balcony were fantastic, though the Wi-Fi in room #2 was extremely weak. The location is great, near the markets, restaurants and park, and the breakfast was good. The front desk staff were nice too. Rooms 1-5 are HUGE, but the ones on the third floor, 6 and up, feel more like tiny servant quarters at about 6 by 8 feet. They have a bed, TV and their own shower, but barely any space. And don't count on getting hot water, whatever they tell you. lol

The location was good, and the staff were nice. Breakfast was decent too. But spend a couple extra dollars and skip the economy room unless you want something that feels like a dorm. The walls are so thin I could hear the person next door breathing, no joke. Cleanliness was maybe a 7/10: there were hairs all over my sheets, so I wasn't sure they were clean.

The staff were really friendly and accommodating, and the entrance stays locked, which made the hotel feel secure. If you get back late, though, you'll have to ring and wait for someone to let you in, since nobody is always downstairs at reception. Our room was right by the street but wasn't too loud with the doors shut. Leave them open and exhaust from the busy road starts coming in. The room was big, bright and had a comfy bed. There's no AC or heater, but we didn't need either. This ended up being one of my favorite places we stayed. We moved here from our previous hotel because of the location.
