ITZA Hotel Boutique Internacional

We absolutely loved Itza and had a wonderful visit. The location, secure lobby entry, friendly staff, food, and rooftop restaurant were all amazing. The breakfast dining area is beautiful, and we'll certainly plan to stay again. There are a few things management could improve. Our shower floors were ceramic and extremely slippery. They had put down some safety strips, but there weren't enough, so it still felt potentially dangerous. The temperature was generally cool and comfortable, but if you're hot and injured, know that this lovely place doesn't have air conditioning. On hotter days, they brought air conditions into the rooms. We also asked the front desk about a local jazz club we'd heard of. The female attendant said there were no jazz clubs in Cuenca, but we walked out of Itza and found the club sign about two minutes away. They could be better trained to point guests to nearby attractions, especially ones that close. Finally, there was a sign asking guests not to flush toilet paper, so figuring out how to dispose of it after use was a bit of a puzzle. I've included pictures of the shower floor where we had to put a towel down to keep from falling. Even with those issues, it's a great place and definitely worth trying. Highlights are the central location, safety, outstanding staff, rooftop restaurant, and beautiful breakfast room. We'll go back.
