Hotel La Casona

There are lots of restaurants around the hotel, and it’s about a 20-minute walk to the historic center. The rooms are lovely, with really comfortable beds, and the staff were friendly and helpful.

The breakfast had a nice mix of local dishes, with humita one day, tortilla de maduro con queso another, and mote pillo on a third. There was also fruit, juice, milk, yogurt, coffee, water, granola, cereal, nuts, pastries, cheese, ham, bread, and eggs made how you like them. Our group of six had two single rooms and one room with four beds, so we could all relax together. The rooms were spacious and clean. The receptionist helped us find a guide and book a tour, which is handy if it’s your first time in Cuenca. It’s close to Supermaxi and plenty of restaurants, and you can walk to Centro histórico. I’ll definitely stay here again.

William and Julio were really friendly and looked after us well. Booking by phone while I was on the go was easy, and the breakfast was delicious, with something different each day. A friend who stays here regularly recommended this nice boutique hotel. It’s in a safe neighborhood, close to everything, with plenty within walking distance. Parking was a plus too. Sometimes it’s nice to get away from chain hotels. My first time in Cuenca, and I’ll definitely return.

Breakfast was a really good experience, with yogurt, granola, fresh fruit, eggs, omelettes, and bread. There was a little breakfast surprise each day. My room was clean, comfortable, and quiet, with lots of restaurants nearby. Across the street, there’s a great lunch spot with a $3 plate of the day. The person at the front desk was always helpful.
