We came during two rainy days, but still enjoyed our time at this unusual lodge. The host was helpful, efficient, and spoke good English. Our room had a quaint, rustic feel, with a wood fireplace stove for heat. Meals are served on site, with a good selection, and the staff were cordial and efficient. There are walking trails and a trout pond on the property. The rough road made the trip feel like an Ecuadorian massage, but the setting was peaceful and rural. Cotopaxi finally came out from behind the clouds the morning we left, and it was a beautiful sight. They can arrange tours to the national park, town markets, and hikes in the park.

We took a cooking class and a day trip to Cotopaxi National Park, including a hike to the refuge and base camp. Eduardo was patient and pleasant as he helped us make empanadas, ají sauce, and canalazo, and everything turned out delicious. They also learned it was my birthday and surprised me with dessert and a candle at dinner. Raul, our guide at Cotopaxi, was friendly and helpful, sharing tips for adjusting to the altitude and bits about local life. The lodge itself was spotless and cozy, with tasteful rustic decor and lovely grounds. I appreciated its focus on conservation and living in harmony with the surrounding nature. It was a beautiful, restful place, with activities for families and more experienced outdoor travelers, plus bilingual guides and transportation available.

The room was comfortable, though a little noisy. I could hear our neighbor snoring, haha. It can get chilly, but once they light the fireplace, it feels warm and cozy. The location has lovely views of several volcanoes, and both the staff and food were great.

The whole property felt peaceful, with a large fire pit for late-night chats and making s'mores. It's in a quiet area, and the rooms are cozy and comfortable. A lovely lodge with amazing views of the volcano in Cotopaxi.

The property and lodge are really well kept, and the view of Cotopaxi is hard to beat. We enjoyed our stay at Chilcabamba a lot. Jose, Karen, and Eduardo treated us so well, and the staff were amazing.
