Wyndham Manta Sail Plaza Hotel & Convention Center

The hotel has a lot of potential thanks to its location and facilities, but I left very disappointed. Over three days, the buffet repeated the same salads and desserts, and the poolside snacks never changed. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner all became repetitive. The all-inclusive package also felt misleading: many cocktails and snacks cost extra, and it was never clear what we had paid for. We were told there was an additional charge whenever we tried to order. There wasn’t even coffee or a coffee maker in our room. Our check-in was chaotic, and although we had paid for all-inclusive service, we couldn’t get into our room until 7:00 PM instead of the usual 2:00 PM. Housekeeping was another problem. I requested room cleaning three times, but there seemed to be far too few staff to cover basic needs. Some staff tried hard to make things better. Diana, our server, went out of her way to find more suitable options at the bar. Gabriel at the front desk was incredibly kind and did his best to make us feel at home after the disastrous check-in. I also spoke with Walter, the executive chef, about the lack of variety. I won’t share our private conversation, but I appreciated his professionalism and clear effort despite the limitations. There seemed to be little leadership on the floor. A general manager should be present in operations and attentive to guest complaints, rather than staying behind an office door. I later learned that Doménica Cañar is the General Manager. This is a direct appeal to her and the shareholders: please improve teamwork, cleanliness, and organization, and be honest in marketing. Don’t sell an all-inclusive package that doesn’t truly exist. The hotel has the resources and location to do well, but an urgent meeting is needed to address the budget and service shortcomings. Good service brings guests back and leads them to recommend a place to others. For now, I’m very disappointed. Tammy Walcott.
