Hostal El Paraiso

Simple hostel rooms, as you'd expect, but good value for the location and price. It's in a pleasant spot in Puerto Ayora, with kind and helpful staff and hot water. I'd recommend it.

The shared kitchen wasn't clean, had bugs, and I couldn't find basic things like spoons. My room's TV didn't work either. The bathroom was okay, but there was no hot water on either day I was there. The shower water spread over the whole floor, and the tall bathroom window had no cover, so people could see in. If I'd been in town longer than two nights, I might have considered moving.

The place was basic, clean, comfortable, and well priced, with everything in town easy to reach on foot. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful, and the room was cleaned daily. The air conditioner worked well. The shower water was only lukewarm, heated by an electric unit on the spout, which is fairly common when traveling in Latin america. We didn't mind, though some people may not like it.

Alicia looked after us and made the stay enjoyable. The rooms were clean, had a/c, and the customer service was excellent!!! It's an affordable, comfortable place near the kiosk area (food), and within walking distance of tortuga bay, Charles Darwin Station, Museum and Ferry Station.
