Hotel Pelican Bay Inn

The breakfast was the letdown: just five tiny fruit slices and eggs each day with something else. One day they served half a sausage braised with tomato and onions, alongside a fried egg and boiled potato, and it was terrible. Otherwise, the hotel is comfortable and new, with what you need to rest. The rooms are bright, cool, and air-conditioned. It's two blocks from Chales Darwin Avenue, the station, and the beach. Reception were attentive, and I'm grateful to Micaela for moving us when the air conditioning broke on our last night. Water refills cost 1 usd.

We were told there was a safety box when we asked before arriving, but there wasn't one when we got there. We had cash, US passports, and valuables with us, and after what happened, we stopped trusting the place. We checked in around 4 pm on April 30, then came back to our room at about 8 pm to find the door open. Thankfully nothing was missing. They said the cleaning crew had forgotten to close it, but why had anyone gone in four hours after we'd checked in? We had to carry our cash, passports, and valuables around after that. The following night, about 35 kids aged 12 to 15 were staying at the hotel. They were so loud, with music playing until midnight. We asked to move to another room or hotel and got nowhere. The tour package we bought through PIKETRAVEL in Ecuador included this hotel. It was a horrible experience and I wouldn't go back even for free. Too bad I can't post the video of the noisy kids.

The rooms were clean and the breakfast was freshly made and incredible. The location just off Darwin ave is central, and everything from booking through checkout was wonderful.

This hotel wasn't worth the money. The room and bathroom were poorly maintained: dirty sheets, broken bed rails, a ceiling leak, and a shower that sprayed everywhere. After just a five-minute shower, the bathroom and whole room were soaked. The bathroom was dirty, too, and had no soap, shampoo, conditioner, or hair dryer. For two adults we got one large towel and one small one. Breakfast was poor, just two slices of bread with jam and butter. You could leave luggage or keys at reception while out, but no one watched them, so they could easily have been stolen. During the usual lunchtime rest, workers were doing major repairs right beside our room with drills and lots of noise. Awful stay.
