Galapagos Eco Friendly

The rooms were comfortable and nicely equipped, and the breakfasts that came with the stay were delicious. Harry, thanks for making us feel so welcome. It's a long way from the malecon, but taxis are cheap and easy to find, so that wasn't a problem. And I loved the friendly rescue cats!

The rooftop breakfast came in generous portions and had a lovely view. I didn't care much for the empanadas, but the amount of food and the setting were hard to fault. Outside, the common area was a peaceful place to sit, and I found the cats wandering around, even into our room, charming. The neighborhood felt safe, and there are a couple of pleasant local places to eat nearby. Restaurante Brisa Marina had tasty food and a nice atmosphere, though the wait can be long. It's about a ten-minute walk to the water. We only stayed one night, and the room was small and plain, though reasonably clean. Some lights didn't work, and the cleaning-fluid smell was strong and unpleasant the whole time. My wife also woke in the night to find several little ants in her bed. The staff seemed to be trying, but didn't seem well trained. We spent far too long waiting while they tried to work out the credit card machine, and then deal with the lighting problem. In hindsight, I'd have paid a little more for somewhere nicer and closer to the water.

The place was quiet, away from the busy tourist area, and the rooftop breakfast spot had an unbeatable view. Breakfast itself was good. Harry met us at the airport himself, along with a very kind driver, and his warm welcome made it clear how much pride he takes in the business. The bed linens looked dated, which at first gave me a dirty-motel feeling, even though everything was clean. Knowing Harry cares a lot about the environmental impact, I wondered if he keeps them because they're still perfectly usable despite being out of style. I appreciate that.

The staff took such good care of us and were amazing. This was a great Hotel, and I wish we could've stayed longer.
