El Patio Hostel Quito

The hostel was comfortable, though very quiet and nearly empty when we stayed. It's a long way from the historic center, so getting there means a 15-20 minute taxi ride. You also have to pay to leave your bags after checkout, since reception isn't open around the clock. The free walking tour arranged through the hostel was 10/10, though. Agar was friendly and knowledgeable, and made it engaging and interactive, with a quick art museum stop and tastings of different foods.

The hostel's service really blew me away. Their instructions for checking ourselves in in the middle of the night were fantastic. Beds were very comfortable, breakfast was included, the showers were hot, and everything was extremely clean. It was one of the best hostels we've stayed at during seven months in South America. Loved the decorations and little patios where you can enjoy the sunshine. They also have yoga mats to use and kindly stored our luggage while we spent a few days in Mindo. Highly recommend booking here for your Quito stay!

I'd look for somewhere in a better location. It was very quiet when we were there, so not much was going on at the hostel. The price was decent for one night, it felt very secure, and the staff were really friendly and responsive. The showers weren't hot, or if they were warm, it didn't last long. Breakfast was basic, just bread and cereal. You'll pretty much need to Uber everywhere.

The staff really made the stay for me. Emilio and David were especially lovely and always ready to help. The place feels like a home, with a cozy living room, a well-equipped kitchen, and a great rooftop for yoga. I only meant to stay a couple of days, but ended up there for a whole week.
