Hostal la Chorrera - Hostel

We enjoyed our four nights here in November 2019, and the included breakfast was very good. The location worked well for walking to cafes, bars, and the historico zone, and the 24/7 front desk and secure entry were reassuring. Juanita at the front of house deserves a mention, she was extremely helpful and knew Quito well. The rooms were clean and tidy, with decent beds and good linen, hot showers, and a reliable WiFi connection. Most rooms are large, especially the twin rooms with private bathrooms and external windows. There’s also a good indoor lounge. It’s a very old colonial casa with plenty of old-world charm, but the facilities are old too, so don’t expect a modern place. Good value for money, and we’d stay again. Thanks, guys! Bruce & Margo

The hosts made me feel like part of the family and helped with anything I needed during my five nights here. I shared several breakfasts and dinners with them, and the meals were always delicious and generous. My room was simple but spotless and had everything I needed, including hot showers and good WiFi. I also loved practicing Spanish with the kind, patient Anita, and I miss playing with Coquito, the sweetest dog ever. It was a perfect base for seeing Quito, and I’d absolutely come back.

This hostal is awful for local tourists, especially people from Ecuador. The workers discriminate racially. The manager said, “Only foreign people are welcome.”

Anita and her family were lovely, and she helped us with everything we needed. We loved staying at this family-run hostel. Our room was very spacious and clean, with a hot shower. There’s a little kitchenette with just a microwave and kettle, so cooking isn’t really an option. It’s about a 10-minute walk to the main plaza in the historical centre.
