When I first got to Quito, I spent three nights at this guest house and felt at home straight away. The owner was helpful and very friendly. Everything was clean, quiet, and safe, and the city view was impressive. I loved my stay and highly recommend it to everyone.

We spent 12 days at Papucho's, and it was a wonderful stay. Our host ran the place well, and everything was clean and upmarket. There are some very cool, hip restaurants and bars within walking distance, along with a little tienda that has nice bread. The biggest mall in Quito is walkable too. We can highly recommend Papucho's.

We stayed in the upstairs front room, and it was great. The view of Pichincha volcano was incredible, with the clouds always changing. Papucho's really felt like home. We made use of the kitchen, shared space, and dining table. Security was emphasized and very good, and laundry facilities were available. Quinmetro is a 10-minute walk, with everything you could need. Definitely recommend.

I booked with PGH hostel in Quito, but when my friend and I arrived, the owner Juan was rude right away. Within minutes he said he couldn't take us, then started asking, “you know what your problem is?” and “you know what the problem is with you Americans?” He then tried to persuade us to stay, but still wouldn't refund us. We ended up walking in the rain without internet until we found somewhere nearby. The issue partly involved breakfast: because of coronavirus he couldn't serve it, which was fine with me, but when I asked for an alternative he got upset. We eventually found a hotel that still served breakfast and food as its website said. I've traveled a lot around the world with my friend and have never been treated so rudely at a hostel or hotel. Based on the reviews, I don't think Juan Carlos is a bad guy; maybe he was just having a bad day.

The hostess was friendly and helpful, and breakfast was good. The place was clean and quiet, centrally located, with a good view and good prices.
