Play House

La Floresta is quiet, with plenty of shops and restaurants to explore. I spent about 3.5 months in a private room and came away with some incredible friendships. The house feels open, clean, friendly, and respectful. It also works well for coworking, with one router on each floor, which was great for working from home and making video calls. Jessica and Mary, who manage the place, are kind and dependable.

I only stayed two nights while passing through Quito on my way to the coast, but the positive, respectful atmosphere stood out. The owner was incredibly helpful with my vacation logistics, even though I speak very little Spanish, and I’m grateful for that. The bed was really comfortable too. I’d definitely recommend Play House.

I felt right at home during my month and a week in a private room at Play House, and I’d love to return. It’s bright and comfortable for working, cooking, or relaxing, the internet was good, and I met lovely people and made friends. We had some fun times together. One thing to know about the cost: extra nights after a stay that doesn’t end on a full month are charged at a higher nightly rate, not the prorated monthly rate. I paid $260 for the month, then $12 per night for the following week. La Floresta is a nice neighborhood, with good restaurants and cafés nearby. Laundry can be done downstairs for $5.

Mary and her parents, who live downstairs, are lovely and made me feel at home. Playhouse has what you need to work and enjoy your time in Quito: the coworking area is high quality, spacious, and has a private place to take calls. The dorms are very comfortable too.
