Pululahua Ecolodge

We were glad the owners let us bring our dog and even helped us get a campfire going at night. They’re attentive, welcoming people who clearly care about nature and the environment. The Ecolodge is lovely and centrally located in the crater. There was loud music and even fireworks from guests at the hostel across the street, which surprised us in a national park. Still, it was a relaxing visit, and we’d highly recommend staying here when you visit Pululahua.

The garden had all kinds of hummingbirds, and after horseback riding the jacuzzi was just the thing. Our room also had a wood stove and a great view over the crater. The food was excellent, among the best meals we had in Ecuador.

The drive in follows a rocky but scenic road, and the experience at Pululahua Ecolodge starts there. It’s very private and accommodating, with a garden of Eden feel. The place was spotless, the staff excellent, and the farm-to-table food was the best I’ve had.

Señora Olga cooked great food, and there was plenty to do, from board games and ping pong to table soccer, a kids’ playground, a jacuzzi and sauna. The location is great for hiking, and the hostal has what you need for a comfortable stay. We were the only guests during our weekday visit, which left me wondering if it still gets busy on weekends or had a busier past. My first impression was a little odd, but we ended up enjoying our stay and would come back.
