Sheraton Quito Hotel

The lounge was a real plus, built right into the floor and open around the clock instead of being shut away like in many hotels. The location was good too, and the property was decent. Alejandro from housekeeping was another bright spot, always friendly and full of energy. The air conditioning, though, was a problem for several days. After I raised it with the front desk repeatedly, they eventually brought a special cooling unit that helped a little. The staff I spoke to seemed pretty unconcerned, while my room got up to 28 Celsius for multiple days. Service in that situation could be much better.

A good option if you want to stay in a pleasant, safe area. It’s very central, with a mall and plenty of places to eat nearby. The staff are friendly and the hotel is generally well maintained, though some upkeep could be better. The rooms feel a little dated.

I wouldn’t recommend staying here if you’re after luxury. The rooms are small, and my friend and I both had poor WiFi on floors 6 and 8. The front desk women were rude for no good reason, and they charge 34$ for any visitor you bring to your room. If you’re visiting family or someone else, you may be better off meeting at their home. For an extra 100$, I’d choose the JW. It costs a bit more, but you avoid this policy, get a larger room, and have more food choices with its 2 restaurants.

The sauna in the gym area had an unpleasant smell, and that’s the one thing I’d like to see improved. Otherwise, it’s a great hotel with what you need: roomy, comfortable rooms, a stunning breakfast buffet, and staff who are both friendly and professional.
