We were glad to visit on a weekday. There were hardly any other guests, and once we asked to have the restaurant music turned off, the birds and the surrounding forest were all we could hear. We’d heard weekends usually get busy, so having the place almost to ourselves was lovely. The three nearby hot springs, Shuar, Zhagal and San Miguel, were a real highlight, and we went to a different one each day. Margoth and the rest of the staff made us feel welcome, and arranging a driver and day tours beforehand was easy and friendly. The facilities were very good, especially the steam room. We also loved the food: all nine meals were delicious, and they handled our vegetarian and gluten-free requests perfectly. Peaceful setting, great value, highly recommended.

The breakfast was good, and the young man who helped us was nice. The check-in process felt disorganized, though. At night we had to carry all our children through the mud just to find out when we could check in, even though we could have waited with them in the car beside the building. The woman had quoted us a price over the phone that apparently didn’t include the pool and the surrounding nature. I don’t understand how that could happen, especially when we weren’t told until after driving two hours at night and were then asked to pay extra. I wouldn’t go back.

Lots to do here if you want to spend the day. It’s a great spot, and the price is reasonable.

The rooms were very good, and the pools, gardens and lake make the place feel welcoming. The staff were really attentive and friendly, too. It gets very hot at night in the warm climate, though, and the fans aren’t enough. I’d recommend installing air conditioning. Apart from that, everything was 10 out of 10.

The pool table was fine, but the foosball table was broken and couldn’t be played. Fishing with those rods was nearly impossible since the hooks were too big, and the trail guide wasn’t there when we went. It was a nice visit, though the weather didn’t cooperate.
