ALUR Hostel Tallinn Old Town

We had a great place to relax at the hostel after walking around, and the bar was very reasonably priced. It was ideal for our big group. Right in the middle of town, a stone's throw from the center and the old town walls, the hostel has clean, comfortable rooms with plenty of power outlets. There were plenty of clean showers and bathrooms too, which is always a plus. The hangout areas were pleasant, with lots of chances to spend time with other guests. I'd definitely recommend it.

The bar gets busy at night, so it's easy to meet people, and we even played foosball at 2 AM. With lots of young travellers around, there's a lively feel, and many museums, parks, and restaurants are within walking distance. The city square is about a five-minute walk, and I even passed the hostel during my free walking tour. For this price in such a central spot, it's a steal. My ten-bed mixed dorm was spacious, with a balcony overlooking a busy street and a nice atmosphere at night. The rooms and washrooms were regularly cleaned, and I never had to wait long for one of the many showers or toilets. The receptionist was polite and friendly. There's a shared luggage room and free lockers, and some staff are volunteers who use the hostel. It gave me the impression of a student-run place, but it was well maintained. It isn't a fancy place run by professionals, so you might be a bit disappointed if that's what you're expecting. Everyone was polite and I didn't have any problems. The shared kitchen could be tidier, but it's more than good enough for a short stay.

It's a great spot in the old town, and I plan to stay again. The building is old, but it was always clean. People were welcoming, the atmosphere felt international, and the staff were helpful. The guy at reception was especially kind. If you want an interesting evening conversation, talk with the guy from Netherlands. He's a really interesting person. The rooms were cold, but manageable.

The window didn't shut tightly, and although there was heating, the room was still a bit cold in late December. The bed was somewhat uncomfortable. The room itself was clean and tidy, and the bathroom was clean too. The staff quickly gave me the check-in directions. Being right in the center of the old town made it easy to get around Tallinn.
