Angleterre Apartments

I liked Angleterre’s location. It’s within walking distance of Old Town and Rotermann City, but far enough away to avoid too much noise. Plenty of trams and buses are less than a five-minute walk away, so getting around was convenient. The room was nicely furnished, and I loved the loft and brick wall design. The bathroom was a good size and extremely clean, and the small kitchen came with cookware and utensils. I was lucky to get a nice view of the Old Town, which made the stay very enjoyable. I stayed for seven days and was told housekeeping would come twice, but it never did. Luckily I didn’t have much rubbish, so it didn’t smell, but I would have appreciated the cleaning. Check-in at the counter was a little slow, and the baggage storage felt unsafe: the bags weren’t labelled, and guests were invited to pick theirs from the storage area on an honor system.

This clean, tidy little flat was comfortable and good value, close to the old town, with public transport easy to reach and plenty of malls and coffee places nearby. Air-conditioning would be useful in summer. Also, the bedroom isn’t easy to access if you’re very tall or have a disability. Don’t try calling the owners, as they won’t be much help.

The apartment was clean, the little kitchen was great, and it was very close to the ferry, groceries, and the old city. But summer was unbearable. I’m not sure how it would be in other seasons. There was only one way to ventilate the place, an east-facing window over a busy road. At night, opening it meant putting up with noise and light, while closing it left us suffocating. Then the morning sun made it scorching hot. The bed was in a small loft, which made it even hotter and left even less airflow. It badly needs A/C, or at least a few fans. The owners couldn’t be reached. We emailed and called the number provided but got no answer; the only communication was through the doorman. Check-in was listed as 2 p.m. We arrived at 3 and still waited half an hour for things to get sorted.

Apartment 48 was quiet, comfortable, and had all the amenities we wanted, plus a great view over Old Town. We really appreciated the air con during those 31 degree days. The location made getting around easy: it's by Rotermanni, close to the ferry terminals, Old Town Tallinn, and the rest of the city centre. The price was extremely fair too. I can't say enough good things about this place.
