The apartment itself was spacious, nicely decorated and practical, with two comfortable bedrooms. I hadn’t really considered staying in Kesklinn before, but the area turned out to be a nice surprise. Stockmann’s grocery store is close by, VoiVoi is in the same building, and you can get breakfast downstairs at Aroma for €16. There’s even a ground-floor bookstore with lots of English-language books, plus plenty of good restaurants within walking distance. Getting in means entering the seven-digit code three times, which works fine but could be quicker. At least there’s no key to forget. A very pleasant stay.

In the snowy winter weather, walking to the old town felt uncomfortable, so we often took public transport. That was easy, with plenty of options around bob w, and getting to the airport or ferry terminal was simple too. Inside, it was still a little cool, though never cold or freezing. We loved the flat’s design and the whole building’s modern, cozy feel. There was lots of storage, a lovely balcony with a nice view, soft cloud-like pillows and a laundry room. We didn’t see staff, but everything we might need was already there, so we felt well looked after.

The communication was quick and very polite. We got the entry code, apartment number and breakfast information on time, and whenever I asked about something, I received a clear answer. They took especially good care of our well-being. The apartment was airy, warm, clean and spacious, with everything needed for a comfortable stay. The kitchen was particularly well stocked, with plenty of dishes, a dishcloth, detergent, dishwasher tablets, garbage bags and more. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable place.

The room itself is a great product. The design is superb, the location in the modern Arter Quarter is excellent, and it’s a pleasant walk to the Old Town. The “ridiculously clean” standard is real. Without a problem, this would have been five stars. But when something goes wrong, you’re on your own. I booked the 55m² “Biggy” months ahead because I wanted the balcony, and travelled 15,000km from Sydney. The balcony door was jammed when I arrived. Staff later admitted through the app that it had completely malfunctioned and they were waiting for a replacement door from abroad. They knew before my arrival, but still charged the premium balcony rate and let me check in without warning. It pains me to rate it this badly, since this was the stay I’d looked forward to most on my five-week trip. Out of dozens of hotels, it’s the only one getting fewer than three stars. It deserves two. The remote app support model failed too. With a physical fault there was no one on site to help, and no way to escalate. An apology or complimentary breakfast wasn’t enough. I had to beg for a refund, and all I got back was the price difference I was already owed. A substantial refund or free upgrade would have been real support. If a room is faulty, guests should be told in advance, and hotels should keep backup rooms for situations like this. When the tech fails, there needs to be a way to reach on-site management. There’s no laundry in the apartment, despite all that space. The “washateria” is a long way downstairs, and doing a wash and dry meant multiple trips back and forth. It turned a basic chore into a huge time-sink, unlike at any other apartment on my trip.

I wish every place I stayed while travelling had rooms like this. The apartment was beautiful and had loads of space, and it was so quiet you couldn’t hear a peep from the neighbours.
