Fonnental Design Hotel

I was glad I picked this hotel. It felt cozy and comfortable, the rooms were clean and orderly, and the staff were really lovely and welcoming.

The air-conditioning works really well, and the service was very good at this cool little hotel in Kadriorg neighborhood. Breakfast is served downstairs at Gourmet Coffee and was good quality. If you're driving, you may be able to get through the narrow gate and down into the tiny garage, which has an electric car charging station. Otherwise, you can park on the street next to the hotel.

The room was nice and the location was good, but the staff were extremely unprofessional. I booked two nights with breakfast, yet when we asked where it would be served, twice we were told to check in the morning. Then we were handed a brown grocery bag of heavily processed supermarket food and told it was a “to-go” breakfast. I honestly wouldn't eat anything in it for breakfast, so we refused it and asked for a refund. They agreed verbally, and I followed up by email, but they replied to only one out of every five messages. They later said the bank confirmed the refund would arrive within three days. A month has passed with no refund. When I called, they said the manager would call back, but nobody did, and now they ignore my calls. I have no hope of getting my money back.

My reservation for a concert trip to Tallinn was confirmed eight months ahead, but the hotel cancelled it without explanation just one month before I was due to stay. This was right before a major concert, when most hotels in the city were fully booked. I find that completely unacceptable and unprofessional. I wouldn't recommend booking unless you're willing to risk having your trip ruined at the last minute.
