I really enjoyed our 2 nights here with 10 friends. Amada was especially welcoming during breakfast and lunch, and Karim was lovely in the afternoon and at dinner. It's peaceful and mostly quiet, though around dinner time you can hear "soundtrack movie sounds" coming from the Philae Temple. The big contrast with busy, noisy Cairo was a big part of why we enjoyed it. The rooms were spacious, with straw mattresses and nice hot showers. Sometimes the hot water was available. There's a kettle and cups for tea and coffee, and housekeeping came every day. WiFi only works in the restaurant area. Food portions are generous, bread is always available, and meals need to be requested at least 2h ahead. Don't expect European standards 😁. Bring bug repellent and use as much as you need, the "wild life" around there is hungry for fresh meat 😉.

The rooms were basic, rustic, and atmospheric, just as we expected, and the food was fresh, tasty, and authentic. Staff even brought us a birthday cake for free, which was so kind. Four years later, I still remember this as one of our most magical stays. The view of the temple and river felt untouched, especially by moonlight when we had dinner and strolled around the hotel. We swam in the river by ourselves. Locals said there are no crocodiles in that part. Such a welcoming, authentic vibe. We'd love to come back with our in laws one day. A belated thank you for making the experience so special.

We would happily have stayed longer. It was so peaceful, with nature and birds around us and lovely views of Philae Temple. The island setting was beautiful, and the boat ride there was scenic. Rooms were simple but clean and comfortable, the staff were very kind, and the restaurant served delicious food. Wi-Fi was weak.

The room was poor, especially the mattress and pillows, and we had a small disagreement over the price the hotel wanted for trips to the temples. I think that should be included since it's the way to and from the hotel. What makes the location special is being on an island right across from Philae Temple. You can see it all the time, with all its colors, including at night during the sound and light show.

Facing Philae Temple is an incredible setting. The view at night is peaceful and unforgettable, but that's the only good thing I can say about the place. We spent six nights here, partly on vacation and partly checking local guesthouses for upcoming travel groups. We had stayed two nights at another nearby Nubian guesthouse, and compared with that place, Econubia’s service and attitude were a complete disaster. There was no AC, which I understand is part of the “eco” concept and isn't something I should complain about. Still, October heat made sleeping uncomfortable, and our ceiling fan was installed backwards, so it didn't move any air. Breakfast was acceptable, but much less pleasant than at other Nubian guesthouses. What made me write this, my first Google review, was the way we were treated. The other place greeted us warmly and talked with us. Here, people were cold and arrogant. Our repeated calls on arrival went unanswered, and we waited half an hour at the pier for a boat pickup, exhausted. The same thing happened again the next day. Once we arrived, nobody welcomed or guided us, and no drinks or seats were offered. At checkout, I asked about the bill and was told that since we'd had breakfast beyond the allowed time, “we should say thank you to them for this.” In fact, we were always there before the stated 10 AM closing time, trying not to inconvenience the staff. Even reasonable questions got condescending answers, as if we were at fault. I don't want to frame this as racism, so I sincerely hope they treat white faces just as badly as they treated us. When we raised our concerns, nobody listened or apologized, not once. They ignored us and waited for us to leave. This guesthouse has one of the best views in Aswan and the worst managements. I hope another team takes it over someday. Philae Temple deserves a better neighbor. I feel sorry for her.
