The receptionist was kind and polite, and the room and bathroom were clean with working AC. Still, finding the place took more than an hour because there was no sign outside, and the host didn’t answer my messages for several hours. Construction was ongoing in the building, and the elevator didn’t seem to meet basic safety standards. The room didn’t match the listing photos. Although I’d told them ahead that my boyfriend would be staying with me, we were given two uncomfortable single beds. Some listed basics were missing, including face and hand towels, bathroom towel hangers, a kettle, and a microwave. There was no TV, and the Wi-Fi barely worked. The power and water also went out while I was showering, which was very inconvenient.

The map pin was wrong, and there was rubbish and rubble all around. The elevator felt completely unsafe, and our room didn’t match the photos. During the day, both the power and water went out. The elevator attendant at the entrance and the cats were very nice.
A great hostel right in the middle of downtown Cairo.
For 15 days, this place made our time in Cairo really enjoyable. We were right in Old Cairo’s center, surrounded by shops, and could wander the streets and drink coffee until midnight without any trouble. The room was perfect, and the staff who looked after us were kind and friendly. We hope to come back soon ❤️
I was there for a month, from late March to late April, at Dar Cairo on Sharif Basha Street, almost at the corner of 26 de Julio. The manager, Mohammed, and the whole team deserve congratulations. Adam at reception, along with Amira and Muna, who served me a very complete breakfast every day, all made the stay comfortable. Renovations had begun while I was there. My single room hadn’t changed yet: no TV, no bedside lamp, and not even a chair, though I’ve noticed it has since been improved. Guests should feel very comfortable at Dar Cairo, and I hope I can return soon. As-salamu alaikun wa-al-lah jihal-liku, friends. I wish them all the best.
