Service was good, and the location was handy for downtown shops and restaurants. The metro station is about a 10-minute walk away. Most of the rooms smelled bad from cigarette smoke, though.

The air conditioner worked well, which matters in summer, and the nightly prices were good for such a great hotel. The rooms were very clean and the staff friendly. It's within the city, with everything reachable on foot, including public transport. I'd definitely return if I stay in Cairo again.

The breakfast area was filthy, with cigarette ends lying around and a bad smell. In the kitchen, rubbish bags were scattered about and food was kept in drawers in an unhygienic way. Breakfast itself was just one egg, a little jam and cheese, yogurt, toast, and tea. Coffee cost extra. I was offered a room without air conditioning or a TV, and only after difficulty was I moved to one with AC but still no TV. Several rooms on the fifth floor weren't fully equipped, and there are no phones in the rooms, so the claimed room service was a joke. The woman cleaning the rooms was also the one cooking and preparing food. The bathroom was less than a square meter, with poor drainage. Showering felt like standing in a minefield: avoid slipping and you might still bump into something. The ceiling looked badly damaged, and I worried it could fall. This felt like a hostel, not even a one-star hotel. Management was completely unprofessional and rudely insisted on cash, with no cards accepted.

The beds were comfortable, and the place smelled clean. The bathroom, though, was so cramped that every shower turned it into a little lake, which got very annoying. Breakfast was extremely poor: just plain yogurt and nothing else. I wouldn't say it was worth paying for, if it even counts as breakfast.

The staff were very friendly and eager to help, and the hospitality was great. There was a large open space for socializing and eating, and breakfast was available. The beds were comfortable, and the rooms on the fourth and fifth floors were modern and well kept, with hot and cold air conditioning. I came for a few nights to explore old Cairo, and the location was lovely, near historic Islamic Cairo and plenty of shops. One thing to know: the lifts are tucked behind the staircase, off to its side. I didn't realize that on the first day and carried our luggage up to the fifth floor. The building itself is old and run-down. Most floors are neglected and look as if they're falling apart. Our three rooms had bathrooms laid out differently, and mine was the worst. The shower sat over the toilet, so I had to pull its head into the middle of the bathroom to make it usable.
