I was charged 1500 egp, even though the displayed price was 616. There was no service to speak of, no soap or shampoo, and no Wi-Fi. Just a very bad stay. I wouldn't recommend it.

The staff were the bright spot: friendly, respectful, and willing to help. The hotel itself is very old and hasn't had a recent renovation. The bathroom and shower need a lot of work to be comfortable, and breakfast is included in a hall with no AC, which gets unbearably hot. For this kind of accommodation, the price is too high.

We were in Cairo for a week with my partner, and the Grand Hotel Cairo made for one of our best hotel stays. The rooftop terrace has wide views over the city, and the outdoor pool is a calm spot amid all the bustle. We also liked the restaurant's Egyptian and Mediterranean food and its breakfast buffet, with fresh bread, hummus, falafel, and local fruit. A free shuttle to major attractions came in handy. The staff were consistently attentive and friendly. They arranged a private pyramids tour, and the concierge shared local advice, including a great restaurant near the Khan El Khalili market. Wi-Fi worked quickly throughout the hotel, and there's a small business center for printing or last-minute arrangements. The central location put us within a short walk of the Nile River, the Egyptian Museum, and Tahrir Square. There are shops and restaurants nearby, and taxis are easy to find for getting farther around the city. It felt lively outside, but the hotel had a peaceful, classic atmosphere. At times, though, street noise could be heard, so light sleepers may want a higher floor or a room facing the Nile. Our room was spacious and elegant, mixing traditional decor with modern comforts. The king-sized bed was very comfortable, the large windows looked out over the Nile River, and the marble bathroom had a soaking tub and rain shower. Housekeeping kept the room spotless. At check-in, the professional front desk team was welcoming and quick. They offered freshly brewed hibiscus tea and local delicacies, explained the amenities, and gave us a Cairo map marked with places to see and eat. The stay can cost more than other Cairo options, especially once guided tours and some premium amenities are added. Still, for us the quality made the price worthwhile. From the views and service to the property's rich history, it was a memorable visit, and we left already thinking about returning. I'd recommend the Grand Hotel Cairo to anyone looking for local charm and world-class service.

Never again. The room's window-type AC wasn't working, and the breakfast items weren't suitable for diabetics. There were no tissues in the restaurant toilet, and it hadn't been cleaned, though an HK sign made it look as if the job was done. The receptionist wasn't qualified to handle guest requests. Maybe I was unlucky, or maybe this is poor hotel management.

A lovely little place for getting a real feel of Cairo. The staff are kind and helpful, and breakfast is really good. It's well located, with a local market right by the hotel for fruit and local food, plus lots of shops nearby. The rooms are roomy and the beds comfortable. I've stayed a couple of times and would come back on my next Cairo trip.
