Invitation Hotel

We left three days early because the dirt was unbearable. The place looked nothing like its photos and was messy enough to feel like a sewer. We were warned we might catch hepatitis, and breakfast wasn’t offered. I asked for a hairdryer and never got one, and there were no towels in the bathroom. Even though we didn’t eat breakfast, they charged us for water, plus a 5 euro deposit for the elevator card. Staff knocked early in the morning at the wrong room, and I’d be wary of them: they took a lot of money by passing their friends off as impromptu tour guides. A nightmare.

The staff were kind and accommodating, and even arranged a ride to the airport. I had to leave before breakfast was served, but they made sure I got what I wanted beforehand, which was thoughtful. It’s a budget place in central Cairo, about a five-minute walk from Tahir Square and the Egyptian Museum, and a good way to experience Egyptian hospitality. The setup is more like a hostel, with bathrooms outside some rooms, and there’s free Wi-Fi too.

A decent budget stop for a night or two, with breakfast included and within walking distance of the Cairo Egyptian Museum. The room is basic, and the carpet was quite dirty.

The room is affordable and basically good, but it needs cleaning and a few repairs. The closet is literally broken, and there’s a silly chair in there too. The bathroom needs small fixes as well. I don’t get why they leave these things alone when they probably wouldn’t cost more than $60 or so to sort out.
