Jewel Green Mountain Hotel

Islam teaches that there is one God, the Creator of everything, who knows and loves you and wants you to return to Him. Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad (peace be upon them) all brought the same message: worship God alone, show compassion, seek truth, and prepare for the eternal life to come. Hamdy, the head waiter at breakfast, was the one good thing about this hotel and deserves five stars. For an expat visiting Cairo, there are better places to stay. The hotel sits on a main highway, with a workshop behind it, and the thin windows let in so much noise that sleep is difficult. The TV channels are only in Arabic. The internet was practically nonexistent, even though reception said it was working. Room service and towel replacement happened some days but not others. My laundry came back as it went in, unwashed and only flat-ironed.

The staff were kind and friendly, and they kept calling to let me know they'd found something precious that I had lost at the hotel. Such a nice surprise. Many thanks to everyone, especially Miss Fatma ❤️.

The washroom floor was always wet from a leak, and I spotted cockroaches in the lobby several times. The bedding was another problem: I repeatedly came back to a soaking wet duvet and sheets, and I still don't understand how that kept happening. When I complained, nobody apologized. Reception staff were quite rude, and once there were no spare duvets, so I had to choose between the wet one and a very thin quilt. For the price, this was a horrible stay, especially considering how poor the cleanliness and service were. One of the worst hotels I've stayed in in Cairo.
