Le Riad Hotel de Charme

Zeeyara, the rooftop restaurant, is a great place to take in the sights and sounds of Old Cairo. The hotel itself has classic Islamic decor and architecture, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. You're right in the heart of "The Great Street," just steps from the busy bazaar. The location loses a star because nearby restaurants play loud music late into the night.

The noise outside made it hard to recommend Le Riad Hotel de Charme for anyone wanting a quiet night's sleep. Music played loudly in the street until around 2 a.m., and echoed into the room like being in a concert hall. The earplugs they provided were stiff, too large, especially for women or children, and didn't work very well. The building is beautiful and well maintained, and the interior matches the photos. Staff were trained and professional. It's a lovely property, but very noisy.

The themed suites are beautiful, as is the rooftop restaurant. A really incredible hotel experience in the heart of Old Cairo.

We loved our December 2024 stay at Le Riad Hotel de Charme. All the rooms are suites, and the hotel feels like an authentic boutique spot in the middle of Cairo's old walled city. The staff were attentive and kind, the service was excellent, and the food was delicious. We especially liked the Egyptian breakfast. You can step onto the balcony to watch the lively scene below, or walk straight out into the market. The downside was how noisy it got until very late, which made sleeping difficult for me as a light sleeper. Earplugs helped, while my husband slept fine without them. I also wasn't keen on the safe not being attached to the wall. We'd stay here again if we return to Cairo.
