Hallo K.
The breakfast buffet was one of the best I’ve had, with crêpes, pancakes, egg dishes, fresh strawberry and mango juices, and vitamin shots. The restaurants were very good too, and reasonably priced for a 5-star hotel. The pool area was excellent, with a sauna, steam bath, whirlpool, and massage. Staff were friendly and helpful. It’s a peaceful spot right in the city center, good for a quiet morning or evening between days of sightseeing. The streets are busy, and Egyptians honk all the time! The Egyptian Museum is a 20-minute walk, while the Pyramids and Grand Egyptian Museum are about a 30-minute drive away. The room was quiet but very simply furnished, with no balcony. I expected a bit more from a 5-star hotel. Download Uber for getting around. The hotel shuttle to the airport costs USD 75, which is outrageous, while a pre-booked Uber is only USD 8.

The outdoor area by the Nile was magical for drinks and breakfast, and the views were beautiful. The whole stay was great and flawless. Staff were friendly and efficient from start to finish, especially Reda and everyone on the Millesime Club team, who were so helpful and kind.

The location is a real strength at breakfast, where you can sit overlooking the Nile. The view is beautiful, though boats pass by blasting loud music, which adds an exotic touch. Colorful lights and loud music seem to be part of the local idea of luxury. The breakfast itself was on par with good five-star hotels and had plenty for my fairly simple tastes: a standard European menu and a couple of local dishes. Bar prices are high, though that’s to be expected at a five-star hotel. The pool was good and the water temperature just right. Staff were attentive and ready to serve, and of course they expect tips. There’s a grand entrance with high carved ceilings, wood finishes, and muted colors. On the way in, there’s lots of greenery and strict security. The rooms are decent, actually quite good, but they don’t meet the usual five-star Sofitel standard. The renovation was done some time ago, and it shows. Our room had a quiet courtyard view that offered an interesting glimpse of life along Cairo’s "golden mile". There’s not much nearby beyond a park, no restaurants, cafes, or entertainment. The nearest restaurant means a 30-40 minute walk through Cairo traffic, with streams of cars that won’t let you cross. The only real downside was all the plastic floating on the Nile, though the view largely offsets it. Still, with Egypt’s local context, I think the hotel has more going for it than against it. I give it five stars. It’s not perfect, but it’s a good place. In Egypt, this is considered quite posh, and after seeing Cairo, I can agree. Just don’t expect the usual "Sofitel luxury".

Ahmed, Ali, Fahad, and Shrein made the lobby check-in and other interactions easy. They were welcoming, friendly, and professional. I had a wonderful stay at the Sofitel, with excellent service from Ahmed Reda and Norhan in particular. They were attentive and helpful, and room service was prompt and handled very well. A very pleasant experience, and I’d definitely recommend the hotel.

The Sofitel Cairo Nile El Gezirah is in a perfect spot for exploring Cairo, but the people there are what made my three nights so memorable. Yasmin and everyone on the Club Lounge team were kind and attentive throughout, from check-in through breakfast and the daily Happy Hour. Their care and attention made me feel welcome the whole time. Highly recommended for a mix of luxury and warmth in Cairo.
