Monte Cairo Serviced Apartments

There are lots of restaurants and grocery stores you can get to, and the place has both a large pool and a smaller one. I stayed for two months. It was always calm, and if you got noisy, the lifeguards would tell you to quiet down. Pretty good overall.

We finally got some hot weather and thought we’d spend the day at Monte Cairo’s pool. I called the day before and was told we could come for 150 LE, from 10am-6pm. We arrived just before 11am, paid, and were taken to the pool, where they asked us to wait 30 minutes while it was cleaned. We waited in the shade, then had a happy hour in the water. While the three of us were having lunch, the manager came over and said we had to wear bathing caps. Nobody had mentioned that when I called or when we paid. He said the sign was in Arabic. I was thinking, the guy over there has more hair on his back than I have on my head! We said we wanted our money back and would leave, and that was the end of it. Next time I’m going to the HOLIDAY INN!

The staff were amazing, quick to help, and very helpful. We also had a convenient airport ride in a minivan, and I’d stay here again, insha2 Allah. The location and service are good, and there are plenty of room options. The pool is very clean and the water is controlled, and the Wi-Fi worked well. There are some issues in the rooms, though. Insects from the garden and trees around the pool still seem to get inside, even though the area is sprayed with insecticide every day. The rugs and mats need vacuuming during each cleaning. All three rooms we stayed in had rusty, unusable kettles that needed replacing.

The reception staff are polite and helpful, and there’s a swimming pool split into two sections, one for children and one for adults. It’s a nice place, about ten minutes from el Mosheer axis and not far from the center of Mokatam area.
