Museum Plaza

The traffic outside was loud at night, which was the main drawback. Still, this was the best value-for-money accommodation I found, especially since every room had its own bathroom even though it’s a hostel. Breakfast was included, and I liked being able to take it back to my room. The location is excellent, near El-Tahrir Square and the Egyptian Museum. They also arranged free airport pickup despite my five-night stay. I booked through Trip.com, and communicating with the hotel was smooth and convenient.

As a solo traveller, I’m sharing what happened so others can decide for themselves before booking. The location is central, on the main square, with the museum across from it. The kitchen lady was friendly, and there’s a takeaway place beside the hostel. My main issue was the room. I booked a deluxe double through a booking platform’s partner deal, so I couldn’t leave a review there. It was advertised as having a balcony and about 20 sq feet more space than a single, but the photos were misleading. I think I was given what looked like the single room shown on the platform, with no balcony. It was tiny and hard to fit my luggage, and the “double” smelled nasty, as if air freshener had been used to cover it up. When I asked about the size and requested a change, the receptionist said they had several room types and that it counted as a double because it had a double bed. I wasn’t convinced, since I believe all their singles have double beds too. They moved me to a larger room with two single beds, still without a balcony, next to reception and facing the museum. That one looked like the deluxe room in the photos. By then I was wrapping up my trip, so I didn’t press them about the balcony or room further. Noise was another problem: street traffic, plus sounds from reception and the kitchen, phones ringing, and people using speakerphone. The kitchen was in use until early morning. There was black stuff inside the kettle, so I didn’t use it during my stay.

The room was clean, and staff were very helpful. There was plenty of breakfast, which made the stay pleasant. My room looked into the building’s interior, but given the traffic noise in the street-facing rooms, that may have been a blessing :-)

The location was great, close to everything I needed, and the hotel had a relaxing, elegant feel with positive energy. From arrival through departure, the service was outstanding. The staff were friendly, professional, and helpful, and made me feel welcome. My room was spotless, comfortable, and prepared beautifully each day. I had a wonderful stay at Museum Plaza Hotel and highly recommend it for comfort, cleanliness, and great service. I’ll definitely come back. Thank you!
