Om Kolthoom Hotel

The view by the Nile was beautiful, and the room felt spacious, clean, and cozy. I especially liked the lighting. The staff and management welcomed us warmly from the first day, and even picked us up when we arrived so we could get there smoothly. A really pleasant stay, and a good affordable option with a nice vibe.

We liked the roomy apartment, comfortable bed, impressive view, and handy location with plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby. We felt safe, and communication with the staff was smooth from booking through checkout. There were a couple of bugs in the kitchen, so keeping food in the fridge seems wise. The wooden floor needs a proper cleaning, even though it looked clean. Our main problem was the electricity: after a hot shower, the power went out. They fixed it quickly once we let them know.

I paid in full for a particular room and confirmed it by text before arriving, but was given a completely different room of a lower standard. Their answer was to move me to another building 10 minutes away. The replacement apartment had no hot water, and they couldn't fix it that day, in winter. The windows and carpets were filthy, the old bedding felt rough, there were no amenities at all, and the AC was unbearably loud. When I asked for a full refund because I hadn't received what I paid for, they refused and offered a discount on a future stay. They also blamed me for not complaining enough during my one-night stay, while I was trying to deal with all these problems as they happened. This felt like false advertising with no accountability. Book a hotel instead.

For the price, it’s a great, spacious place, with very friendly, helpful staff. The location in Zamalek is great too, and there’s amazing coffee out front.
