Shepheard

The ambience felt completely genuine, and the view, service, location, and continental breakfast were all outstanding. I stayed here in September 1972, and even after visiting 65 countries, I still count it among my most memorable stays. A great choice if you enjoy historic properties and that old luxury feeling.

The morning breakfast is what I remember most: a huge continental spread with lots of cheeses, yoghurts, breads, fruits, and vegetables. I visited Shepheard Hotel in winter 2007, and the rooms, food, and service have stuck in my mind ever since. The hotel sits centrally, right across the river, and the rooms were spotless with tasteful decor. It’s a reasonable distance from the Giza Complex, and its location seems to keep it full.

Cairo was a little different when I visited in 2007, and I got to stay in a beautiful hotel with an incredible river view. It’s just down the street from the square. The pyramids, museum, garbage village, and Coptic church all made Cairo quite an experience.

Staying in an old hotel makes a visit to a city as awesome as Cairo feel special. We love this place, and a room looking out over the Nile makes it even better. One of the best hotels in Cairo.
