The room was so awful we couldn't stay in it. The furniture was extremely dirty, and the dark bedding made it seem like they use it to avoid washing it. We left our Booking reservation even though it couldn't be canceled for free. Don't trust this hostel's Booking ratings.

Dud’, Luly and Lamia’ were wonderful. The hostel staff are so friendly and will help with whatever you need. I'd definitely recommend staying here.

The building is pretty old, and noise wouldn't bother me, though it could be an issue for someone else. Still, the location is great, close to shops and attractions, and the service is very good.

Bed bugs, don't stay here. I showed up without booking because the hostel was near the bus station where I got off, and its high score caught my eye. The receptionists were kind at first. I looked at both room options: the private room had no outside window, just one opening inside the building, and the bathroom was shared. There was only one other woman in the dorm at the time, and it had windows, so I chose that. I was catching a flight the following night and asked if I could check out late for an extra charge. They agreed, and I paid for an extra half day so I could leave at 5 pm. I went to bed around 10. By about 11 I was itchy, checked with my phone flashlight, and saw bites on my finger but no bug, so I thought it was a mosquito. The itching kept me up, though, and when I checked again I found a large bed bug. I killed it and took it to reception. A different man with long hair was on duty. He said he didn't know about bed bugs, then came to the room and immediately gathered up the sheets, towel, and pillow. They seemed very practiced at handling it. He offered me another bed, but I didn't want to keep dealing with bugs. He suggested I try it for an hour and see. Seriously? Back at reception I said I just wanted a decent rest before a long journey the next day. He told me I could check out right then. It was almost 1 am, and he was suggesting that a woman traveling alone leave in the middle of the night. I was angry, but also exhausted and didn't want to find somewhere else so late. He then offered the private room, but said I'd have to check out at 11 or 12 instead of 5, with no extra charge. A bed bug had been in my bed, and they were still trying to charge me more. Then he looked at my check-in form and blamed the bites on Dahab, saying he'd gotten some there too. I couldn't believe how shamelessly he said that. I was furious, and my voice got louder because the whole thing was disgusting and ridiculous. He was rude and just kept telling me to check out. By then I had a headache, and finally agreed to move to the private room and leave at noon. I only wanted to sleep. The next day I raised it with Andrew, the same person who checked me in. He acted as though he didn't understand the words “bed bugs” and denied it. I travel around the world, and this was my worst hostel experience. No apology, just an attempt to kick me out at midnight. I come to Egypt every year, but I'll never stay here again because of how they treated me. I don't understand the high rating. Maybe they ask customers to cancel so they can't complain. Zero.
